If it's not the first thing you think about in the morning and the last thing before going to bed, you're not doing it enough.

Origin Story

I started singing when I was thirteen years old before that I had never imagined that I would be singing. I didn't even know I could sing. I remember when I was in class 8 and had music as a subject in school, i stepped in the class and I was asked to sing anything random and my teacher knew Instantly that I stood out. I was the most confident one in the class. I sang an Adele song and everyone was clapping. I knew I belonged there and I know that this is the path for me. Since then I haven't st Read more...

Ambitions

I want to sell out arenas and as a singer/songwriter I want people to feel what I am feeling through my music. I want to relate to them and make them relate to me. Everytime I get up on stage, that's my motto. I want people to sing my songs and say "This artist wants me to be her". I want to inspire people and make them believe in their dreams.

Challenges

As an artist I have gone through many challenges. My family wasn't supportive of my music at first. They wanted me to quit singing and focus on my studies. But I never gave up on music. I remember once I was asked what I wanted as a birthday present and I replied I didn't want anything but your permission to do music and sing. That's all I wanted for my birthday. I remember once I was asked what I wanted as a birthday present and I replied I didn't want anything but your permission to do music and sing. That's all I wanted for my birthday. The other challenge I faced continuously was my inability to play an instrument. I used to look for accompanists to play for me when i would get on stage. I had to quit certain competitions just because I couldn't find someone to play for me. So I decided to change that. I learned how to play ukulele for my own self, so I could be sure that I would never have to quit being on stage just because there wasn't any one willing to play for me. I overcome that and I am proud of myself. The third challenge I still face in these current times is my limited capacity of finance to make music. I come from a family where we prioritise academics over creative passion. So if I were to ask some financial help for my studies there won't be a problem. But that is not at all the case for my music. I have so much to give to people musically and I want to do that but I have almost no financial capacity to do that. And this is a challenge I can't overcome alone.

Growing up, I have listened to a lot of Bruno Mars and Norah Jones and I have inculcated their styles. On a more modern aspect I am greatly inspired by Billie Eilish. She is the reason I decided to pick up ukulele.

My musical style is very diverse. I don't necessarily believe in diversification of genres but if I had to place my music in a genre it would be pop, RnB, jazz. I love songwriting and composing and it's really hard to put a genre on a composition that comes into being without putting too much pressure on it being of a particular genre.

I believe that there should be songs for each person in the audience in your set list. While performing I try to communicate as much as I can with the audience. I have a motto when I am up on stage "Terko feel aayegi, tabhi merko feel aayegi" So if my audience isn't receptive of my music it's not gonna be fun. So that's how I make sure it's fun for all of us present in that moment. It's that adrenaline of being up on stage and it makes me want to come for more.

Achievements

As a kid in school I have participated in many competitions over the years. I have lost some and won many others. So at that point those were my achievements. In college it was the same I won some, lost some. I was the elected president for my music society in college and that was my achievement in that moment. During the lock down due to covid I decided I wanted to learn an instrument and I picked up ukulele as my instrument. Now it has become a part of my body and I am proud of myself. So that was an achievement. Then i wrote my first song ever and I recently released it as my debut single 'Make Believe'. That has been the greatest achievement for me. If I look back 10 years when I didn't even knew I could sing and where I am now I have had a phenomenal experience of developing and growing as a musician. So it really depends on what each person considers an achievement to be, so for me these are all mine.
